Our Story

We met on a dating app just as COVID and lockdown were ramping up.

After a mere 4 dates we had to quarantine from each other as Orens’ roommates tested positive for COVID.

For the next 3 weeks, we talked everyday and even mailed each other handmade cards. Despite the physical distance, we grew closer.

Emily: “We were talking so much that I even confided to a friend: ‘How has he still not asked me out yet?!’”

Orens: “Well, I didn’t want to do it over the phone!”

June 21st, 2020, on our first date back in person, Orens took us on a 1.5 hour road trip to one of his favorite spots in Washington - Deception Pass. Despite being a long time Washingtonian, Emily had never been there before.

As we were wrapping up the day, Orens led us to a scenic yet private spot. He got down on one knee with a bouquet of flowers and asked Emily to be his girlfriend!

We’ve been back many times since then, and Deception Pass has now become our favorite place.

June 21st, 2025, on the exact same day 5 years later, we returned to Deception Pass yet again, and again, Orens got down on one knee, but this time with a ring instead!

We can’t wait for our forever together!
